Tholtig Squashedgranite is our second miner, and just as physically inept-looking as our other miner. He's supposedly a skilled potter and glassmaker as well, which is why I picked him. Mosus Bridgedfocus is one of our farmers. If we want to trade with the mountainhomes we will need his handiwork. not exactly the most impressive miner given his awful physical condition, he's cross-trained in stone and wood crafting. I've assembled a motley crew for this task, one that should hopefully get us through. I'm not entirely sure how they found out about it, but I'll not question the magical. The Prospectors did some voodoo and proclaimed metal aplenty would be found there. If the goblins nearby don't slaughter us all we're sure to make a killing exporting pots at least. A surface inspection shows numerous trees, many of them fruit bearing, plentiful soil for growing crops, sand for glass and clay for pottery. We're headed to the wilderness, a steep, mosquito-ridden valley deep in the Golden Swamps. A little expedition has been dispatched to find a source of steel for the mountain homes, and I've signed up. Well, this isn't how I forecast my year going. Overseer's journal (Diary of Stakud Wheelbreaches) Compress your Region1 folder and upload the file to the Dwarf Fortress File Depot with the title Sufficient Velocity Succession Fortress, then in description write down the year, season, and your SV username. Make a backup copy of the fortress Region1 file. Transferring files: Go to the data folder. For now, everyone's eligible for one turn a year. Once more people join in I hope to have one newer person following a more experienced player in alternating turns. When the next season arrives, your turn is over. Go to the dwarf fortress folder, find data, then init, then d_init.txt. Overseer rules: Just make a post in the thread to request a turn! Each turn lasts 1 season. Year 1, Winter: Year 2, Spring: Year 2, Summer: Year 2, Fall: Year 2, Winter: -complete

Year 1, Spring: Year 1, Summer: Year 1, Fall: Party-completeĤ. It's long, but there's a reason for its lengthġ. To get a good grasp of the basics behind what we're doing, visit this page: Fortress Quickstart. There's a ton of complex features that even I haven't mastered just quite yet. Notes: Dwarf fortress is not very newbie friendly. SV will determine whether this fortress grows into a gleaming jewel of dwarven civilization or a death-ridden hellhole (or maybe even both!). Basically, I'll accept volunteers for slots and the controller of the fortress will pass it on to the next person every in game season. This is going to be a fortress mode playthrough, in succession fort style. The game proper has two modes, the titular fortress mode where you run a fort, and adventure mode, where you control an adventurer. The graphics are primitive, but underneath that ugly exterior is a simulation so in depth that it can make even the most powerful processors weep with a difficulty curve that's been compared to running into a skyscraper wall at speed.

Welcome to Dwarf Fortress, a game where you can manage ASCII tiles in everything from getting drunk to colonizing hell. I don't think one of these has gone up on SV before, so might as well start one!
